We are a cut-to-order business. To place an order, please call us at 1-800-377-1421. We will confirm your pick-up location, date, and time upon placing your order.
Due to the need for precise scheduling, prepayment requirements, square footage confirmation, and weather considerations, we do not accept sod orders via email, text, or social media. However, we’re happy to answer general inquiries through those channels.
All sod orders, regardless of size, are freshly harvested before your designated pick-up or delivery time. Prepayment is required to schedule your harvest. By calling us, we can ensure smooth coordination, confirm your square footage needs, and provide detailed instructions for your pick-up. For delivery requests, this allows us to gather specific information to serve you better. We strive to accommodate your requested pick-up or delivery date while considering our existing schedule.
Farm Visits & Fresh-Harvested Sod
As a privately owned farming operation, Clegg & Sons’ Farms, LLC does not maintain a retail storefront or inventory yard. To ensure we can provide the best possible service, all farm visits—including sod field viewings and order pickups—are by appointment only. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
At Clegg & Sons’ Farms, LLC, we take pride in providing only farm-fresh sod. Unlike retail suppliers that may store pre-harvested sod for extended periods, we harvest your sod specifically for your scheduled pickup or delivery. This allows us to provide a fresher, higher-quality product with optimal moisture retention and overall condition, helping ensure the best possible start for your new lawn.
ARRIVING AT FARM INSTRUCTIONS: Traveling West on 950N, right past the small farmhouse with green siding, there is a large 30-foot gravel drive before the start of the sod field. Please pull in to get sod order loaded.
Paying for Sod
All orders must be paid in full before we harvest your sod. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express for your convenience. Once your payment is processed, you will receive a receipt via email or text.
If you prefer to pay by cash, please ensure arrangements are made before your sod order is scheduled for harvesting.
Important Notice: Order Scheduling, Prepayment & Refund Policy
Due to the highly perishable nature of sod, all orders must be prepaid in full before being placed on our harvest and delivery schedule.
While we make every effort to fulfill orders on the scheduled date, agriculture is inherently subject to factors beyond our control. Harvest and delivery schedules may be affected by adverse weather conditions, field conditions, irrigation or utility failures, equipment breakdowns, labor shortages, transportation issues, or other unforeseen circumstances that may impact our ability to safely harvest, load, transport, or deliver sod. Customers acknowledge and agree that such circumstances may arise before or on the scheduled date of delivery or pickup and may require postponement or rescheduling of an order, including on the day delivery or pickup is scheduled to occur.
If an order must be rescheduled for any reason prior to harvest, customers may choose to either:
- Reschedule the order for the next available harvest date; or
- Request a refund of the prepaid order amount.
Refunds requested before sod has been harvested will be issued less any non-refundable credit card processing fees and transaction charges incurred by Clegg & Sons’ Sod Farms. Currently, this consists of a 3.5% credit card processing fee plus a $0.15 transaction fee per payment processed. These fees are retained by the payment processor and are not refunded to Clegg & Sons’ Sod Farms when a transaction is reversed.
Once sod has been harvested, cut, loaded, or otherwise prepared for delivery or pickup, the order is considered non-refundable due to the perishable nature of the product.
By placing an order, the customer acknowledges and agrees to these terms and conditions.
Our Sod and How It Is Sold: We are currently harvesting a premium turf blend consisting of approximately 90–95% of multiple Fescue varieties and 5–10% Kentucky Bluegrass. As a cool-season turf, this blend provides excellent color, density, durability, and drought tolerance, creating a lush, healthy lawn well-suited to our climate. Our sod is harvested fresh and sold by the square foot. For ease of handling and installation, sod is supplied in rolls measuring approximately 2 feet wide by 5 feet long, with each roll covering approximately 10 square feet.
Important Note: Proper watering is the single most important factor in the successful establishment of new sod. In our experience, the majority of sod installation issues can be traced back to insufficient or inconsistent watering during the establishment period. Sod installed during the spring and summer months requires consistent moisture and careful attention, particularly during periods of warm temperatures, wind, and dry weather. Sod installed in the fall is generally more forgiving due to cooler temperatures and reduced moisture loss; however, proper watering remains essential for successful establishment. Available Quantities
- ½ Pallet of Sod Rolls: Approximately 300 square feet
- Full Pallet of Sod Rolls: Approximately 600 square feet
We sell sod in quantities ranging from a single roll to multiple pallets, making it easy to accommodate projects of all sizes. Each sod roll measures approximately 2 feet by 5 feet and covers approximately 10 square feet.
Our sod is sold by the square foot, and pricing is based on the total quantity purchased. Larger orders qualify for lower per-square-foot pricing, while smaller quantities are priced accordingly. For this reason, it is important to know the approximate square footage needed for your project in order for us to provide an accurate quote.
Please contact our office with the estimated square footage you require, and we will be happy to discuss your needs and provide current pricing and availability.
SOD BITS: Available in boxes of 5 to 6 square feet for $20 each. Learn more here.
Year-Round Harvesting
Sod is a year-round crop, and we make every effort to harvest and sell sod throughout the year, including during the winter months. However, harvest availability is contingent upon weather conditions, ground conditions, and the ability to safely access and operate in the fields.
When conditions permit, we will attempt to harvest sod during December, January, and February. Please note that frozen ground, excessive moisture, snow, ice, or other unfavorable conditions may temporarily prevent harvesting, delay scheduled orders, or limit availability.
The same considerations apply to our spring startup season. While we typically aim to begin harvesting in March, spring weather often brings excessive rainfall and saturated field conditions that can delay the start of harvesting operations. As with all agricultural activities, our harvest schedule is ultimately dependent upon weather and field conditions beyond our control.
Winter rates may apply during the months of December, January, and February. Please contact our office for current pricing, availability, and scheduling.
Delivery Information
Delivery is available based on your location and the quantity ordered. A minimum of one full pallet (600 sq. ft.) of sod is required for delivery. Our typical delivery radius is within 50 miles of the farm. For locations beyond this range, delivery is handled on a case-by-case basis, and additional costs may apply. Please contact us for a delivery quote specific to your area.
*Indiana requires 7% sales tax on all sod sales and delivery services.
Sod Installation
Pricing for sod installation varies based on the necessary groundwork preparation, property accessibility, etc. Please call our office to discuss your project and schedule a time for us to visit your property. A physical assessment is essential for providing an accurate quote, as we will measure the area to be sodded.
During our visit, we will provide a verbal quote so you have immediate pricing information. Following our meeting, we will send a written quote that reflects our discussion. You can receive this written quote via email on the same day or by US Postal mail, based on your preference.
